Taco Fiesta and a new PDR

January 17, 2010

Before I get to the fiesta, I want to announce I achieved a new PDR (personal distance record) this weekend!

Saturday morning I decided to attempt 6 miles.  I feel I have somewhat mastered the 5 mile distance, but anything more than that seemed so out of reach.  I ran it slow and steady for the most part, just trying to pace myself so I could finish.  I can work on getting faster down the road, for now I just am working on endurance.  I’m never going to be the fastest person in the race, but I like slow and steady.

I ran the 6 miles on the dreadmill in 68 minutes.

TRAINING STATS

Including warmup and cooldown:

6.30 miles

85 minutes

1085 calories

166 average HR

188 max HR

I hit the gym this morning for a great workout.

Strength:

warmup: walk 2 laps, run 1 lap

21’s (biceps move, contact me for more info)

Dumbbell upright row 3×15 (15 lb dumbbells, 30 lbs total)

Side lateral raise with dumbbells 3×15 (8 lb dumbbells, 16 pounds total)

Front raise with dumbbells 3×15 (8 lb dumbbells, 16 pounds total)

Squats on bosu holding 2 15 lb dumbbells 3×15

Abs:

V-ups on floor 3×10

Weighted crunch 3×10 (8 lb dumbbell)

Reaching crossover crunch 3×10 each side

Plank 3×30 seconds

Run 1 lap in between each circuit

TRAINING STATS:

42 minutes, 332 calories, 130 average HR, 165 max HR

Then I jumped on the treadmill just to shake my legs out a bit from the 6 miler and ran 2 miles in 21:30.

TRAINING STATS:

Includes cooldown and lots of stretching

38 minutes

2.15 miles

381 calories

146 average HR

181 max HR

Now onto the fiesta!!!!

We had my hub’s parents and his twin sister over for dinner to celebrate my father in law’s birthday.  JR came up with the great idea to do build your own tacos.  It was fun, and easy to prepare.  I prepped it all in advance then got it out when it was time to eat.  I made the ground beef with taco seasoning earlier in the day, then put in the crockpot about an hour before company came over.  I prepped all the veggies and everything else earlier as well, and just had to heat up the hard and soft taco shells in the oven right before we ate.

I have a LOT of fiesta themed dishware for some reason!

I had a store bought strawberry shortcake cake for dessert…it was REALLY good.

Of course there were some puppy pics!  JR’s parents brought their dog Chelly, and she settled right in on the dog bed as her place as the alpha female.  But she also shared with Prince.

And of course while I was bored I did a supermodel shoot.

What is wrong with me!!!  I like the “I’m seriously contemplating something with my glasses” pic.

Ok…gotta get going! Planning out my workouts and boot camps for the week.

I’d love to know what 21s are – my biceps could use some help!:)
Poor Georgie – relegated to the floor! I bet she was glad when Chelly left! Have a great week, Amy
