A Very Blondie Thanksgiving

November 23, 2009

My brother and I affectionately call our mom Blondie because of her bubbly personality and her pretty blonde hair.  She is also a mini Martha Stewart so we knew we were in for some tasty treats when we headed to my parent’s for Thanksgiving Part I.

We were also celebrating my brother Eric’s birthday.  Here we are clowning around:

My parent’s dog Bufie thinks EVERY day is his birthday and he was looking around for his presents.

My bro got some fun stuff for his condo and I got him a framed picture of him and his lady friend.

The stockings were hung by the chimney and the Christmas Dickens village was set up.

There also some turkeys in the mix!

There were naps BEFORE dinner!

I just LOOK like I’m napping…and my hubby is on the verge…

Time for food! My mom and dad had lots of tasty treats.  A big turkey on the grill, scalloped corn, green bean casserole, dressing, hot fruit compote and mashed potatoes.  I made a salad with lettuce, honey crisp apples, cranberries, goat cheese and balsamic dressing.

We even got to watch a great Packer victory! After all the eating I grabbed my gym bag and changed into running clothes.  I did a nice, 4 mile run around my parent’s neighborhood to help counteract the dinner.  I think I did a pretty good job of balancing some tasty eats with staying active.

Oh Courtney, that looks like so much fun. Where is a photo of ‘Blondie’? I am sure she looks great as always. Makes me miss my family! You are so lucky!

I’m impressed you did a run AFTER dinner! I am always wayyyy to full. I guess it’s a good way to watch how much you eat. Maybe I’ll opt for that idea on Thurs!

Hey Courtney! Looks like a nice relaxing weekend with the fam! Great job for running 4 miles…I’m definitely going to try to squeeze a workout in on Thursday too to offset the turkey, haha 🙂
