9/11 Freedom Run Tomorrow

September 11, 2009

Please click here (Freedom Run Details)

Tomorrow I will be participating in the Freedom Run that honors our troops and remembers 9/11 by running a 9.11 kilometer race.  There are also options to do a 9.11 mile race or a walk option.

My parents and brother will be doing the walk portion, and I will be running the 9.11 kilometers with the runners from my Saturday morning training group.  My husband will be the official blog photographer for the event!

If you are in the area and still want to participate you can sign up at the event beginning at 7:30 AM tomorrow morning.  There is also a festival and all kinds of events after in downtown Barrington.

I remember exactly where I was and how I heard about 9/11 and will never forget that day or the very scary days that followed.  I lived near O’Hare airport at the time and was directly under many of the flight patterns.  You don’t even notice the sounds of the planes flying overhead until the planes stop flying.  I hope everyone can take a minute today to reflect on those who were lost and those who were left behind.

I have a big day of workouts planned.  I am finally making it to a Body Combat class this morning, can’t wait to try it out! I’m going directly to my trainer after that for a kick butt workout.

The rest of the day will be cleaning and baking to prepare for the weekend.

Check back later for an update on my workouts and recipe for what I decide to cook up!

I leave you with a very special early birthday shoutout to my best friend and sister MOLLY!!!!!!!!!

Her birthday is tomorrow and I cannot wait to see her next weekend.  Happy birthday lady!!!!

I worked downtown in Chicago, my building was right across from the Wrigley Building – I could see people at the train station looking at the t.v.’s in the bars, but I just kept going.

Once I got in my office, they directly evacuated the building – I live in the Far NW suburbs, so my usual 1 hour train hour ride home, turned into 4 hours because they made every stop.

Glad that you are running for their memory though and happy early birthday to Molly! 😀
