Nutrition Spotlight-Cherries

Now and then I would like to do a nutrition focus as nutrition is 80% of a healthy life in my opinion!

Eating produce in season leads to delicious tastes and smells and is cheaper. 

Cherries are in season right now and I eat about a cup a day, usually with breakfast or lunch:

Benefits of cherries:  chock full of antioxidants, vitamin C, beta-carotene, potassium, magnesium, iron, folate and fiber. What a great nutritional profile!  Most importantly for someone who is active, cherries have been shown to reduce pain and inflammation.  This is a great benefit for those who exercise intensely.  One cup raw red cherries has 90 cals, .5 gram of fat, and 3 grams of fiber…making it a great snack!

    I love cherries… and they are in season… so they’re cheaper. I have some in my fridge as we speak!
